There are many ways you can become involved. UU Membership is not required to participate in many of these events. If you have questions or wish to participate in an activity, please contact the chair of the committee.

Interest Groups

  • Book Club

    Our book club is a casual meeting focusing on one book per month, selected in advance by participants. The club is open to all who enjoy reading and discussion and meets at the fellowship the 2nd Thursday of the month at 6:30 PM. Social time lasts until 7:00 PM, when the book discussion begins.

  • Bowlers

    Led by: Madeleine Baker madbaker3124@gmail.com

    Bowlers meet every Wednesday at 3:00 pm. Join us to make new friends, build community, and craft ceramic soup bowls for the Jesse Tree Annual Fundraiser. Beginners welcome.

  • Chalice Circles

    Led by: Catherine Vance catherinevance1017@gmail.com‍ ‍

    Chalice Circles are small group gatherings in which six to ten people share perspectives on spiritual topics in order to deepen inward and connect more meaningfully to others. Please contact us if you are interested in participating in the next sessions.

  • Game Nights

    Mary hosts Game Nights at her house, 1923 Sealy, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on the 2nd Sunday of the month. We play board and card games based on the size of the group. Bring a treat to share!

  • Handcrafter Group

    Join us Friday afternoons at 1:00 in the Fellowship living room and bring your projects – knitting, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, even mending!

  • Dharma by the Sea

    Led by: Terry Conrad

    Dharma by the Sea, a meditation and Buddhist philosophy talk, meets at the Fellowship Tuesdays 12:00-1:00 PM. Donations are welcome, but optional.

  • Supper Circles

    Led by: Caecilia Fryrear cmfryrear@icloud.com

    Host a dinner at your house with your fellow UU members. It's a great way to have a good meal, great conversation, and get to know your fellow UU members better.

  • Citizen Climate Lobby

    Members of UU Fellowship have revitalized the Galveston Chapter of Citizens' Climate Lobby (CCL,) which meets on the 2nd Thursday of the month from 5:30-7:00 pm.

    CCL is a national, non-profit, non-partisan organization focused on national legislation in support of climate goals. For more information visit citizensclimatelobby.org . Participation is open to all, and all are welcome!

  • Galveston Chapter of the Native Plant Society

    The Galveston Chapter of the Native Plant Society (NPSOT) meets at the UU Fellowship monthly on the 4th Thursday of the month. NPSOT is dedicated to protecting the Texas environment through conservation, research and utilization of native plants. All are welcome.

    The Social Action Committee plans our monthly Compassionate Offerings and other social justice events. This group welcomes your ideas, energy, enthusiasm, and participation.

  • Membership Committee

    The Membership Committee provides information about our Fellowship to those interested in joining as members and maintains membership data. Please contact us if you are interested in learning more about membership in our Fellowship.

  • Caring Committee

    The Caring Committee identifies congregation members who may need assistance, encouragement or support. Please help us by letting your needs or those of others be known.

  • Hospitality

    Linda and her volunteers are responsible for organizing and planning potlucks, celebrations of life, and other gatherings.

  • Music Group

    The Music Group provides music for Sunday Services and includes our Impromptu Fellowship Choir. Please let us know if you have musical skills and would like to join us.

  • Program Committee

    The Program Committee plans content and speakers for our services and manages a group of facilitators, who assist in leading the service in coordination with our speakers.
